President's MessageWhat's next in the PNA's agenda this November? Well, it's election time! The association's terms for all officers is two years, and the c term is drawing close to the end. The Nomination and Election Committee, composed of the board members, has initiated the first phase of the process by mailing nomination forms to registered members. Those who are elected will assume office starting Jan. 1, 1999 and end December 31, 2000. As the founding secretary and outgoing president of this association, I strongly urge members to actively participate in nominating and electing the future leaders of the PNAGKC. The past and current officers have successfully laid a solid foundation for the association. With the caring support of the members, it is through the continued efforts and enthusiasm of the leaders that the association has continued to grow. In addition, I encourage active members to run for elective positions. It is an opportunity to serve and to lead -- not a sacrifice to one's personal and professional life. It is through this window of opportunity that leadership skills are developed in an organization. Meeting different people in varied events and circumstances gives wide range of perspectives of human behavior. These experiences help us modify our responses in order to deal effectively with people. Getting the project or assigned tasks on schedule is equally an important attribute of a good leader. The PNAGKC, like any other growing organization or business needs fresh ideas and futuristic vision. It needs continuing evaluation of its goals, objectives, performance, and its role in the community. This coming election, let us exercise our right to vote for the candidates who we think can help build our association to greater heights. Sonia Tumanut President |
