Nurses Celebrate Nursing

The PNAGKC held its Sixth Annual Dinner-Dance at the Embassy Suite hotel last April 12, 1997. For one night out of the year, PNAGKC nurses shed off their scrubs and white uniforms for more elegant outfits to celebrate nursing and honor deserving colleagues. By all accounts, the celebration was a success ! However, one cannot help but wonder, “Did the room just seem smaller or was the party just well attended?” It would be prudent to realize however, that membership has expanded quite well over the last six years since its inception in 1991.

Part of the night’s program honored all the participants in the Medical Mission to Gapan Nueva Ecija which was concluded last January 1997. This group included nurses doctors, technicians and support staff who as a team provided the much needed medical and surgical interventions. The PNAGKC Outstanding Nurse for l997 was presented to Regina Ancola -Upton, a well deserved honor. We also welcomed new members.

Of course the night would not be complete without a few surprise numbers from members and their SO’s (significant others.). A medley of songs from the musical “GREASE” complete with costumes, dance routines and attitude wowed the audience . And who could forget the up-beat powerful performance of the make believe “Village People?

As quirky as it gets and fun as it was, events like this helps but bring out the best in anyone and provide a temporary release from pressure in nursing. It also hopes to enhance the community awareness of the PNAGKC presence.

More to come in 98 !!!
