EditorialOnce again, PNA members, family and friends celebrated another timeless and magical ritual of the Holiday Season! On December 12, l998, the simple but festively decorated Quail run Clubhouse was transformed into a hall of merriment where children's laughter (mixed with the not so young), echoed throughout the night. That evening, we prayed for and gave thanks to all our members, friends and supporters and their loved ones. We remembered the less fortunate, the needy and the troubled, and that they may find peace, comfort and solace specially during this blessed season. We also gave thanks for all our blessings for the year past and asked for courage and strength to sustain us in the upcoming one. Sonia Tumanut, delivered an inspiring farewell address. She has done a remarkable job as our past president. We were also honored by the presence of a distinguished, and respectable philanthropist, Dr. Tony Racela who inducted into office the 1999-2000 Officers and Board members. Ernie Rosas' presidential acceptance speech was full of optimism and confidence. He is more than ready to take on the challenge as the incoming president and we are 100% committed to support him. And much to the delight of the audience, a group of talented youngsters demonstrated their skills in a short Christmas program. Even Ol' St. Nick came and distributed gifts that brought twinkle in the eyes of the young and not so young! Mesmerized by the gaiety and candor of the evening, I sat quietly in a corner, pondering on PNA's past. Beaming with pride, I recalled PNA's humble beginnings, struggling to become visible and with only a handful members. And now, I am proud to see what PNA has become and prouder of what we have become because of PNA. We have become an emblem of hope for the needy through our community services, as well as a source of intellectual, and emotional inspiration, encouragement and belongingness amongst our members and friends. To all our past and present benefactors and friends, we truly appreciate you . To all the Tanglaw staff and contributors, and readers, thank you for making my editorship a wonderful experience. It has truly been my pride and joy. I have no doubts that Riz, will do a wonderful job as the new editor. Thanks for all your help Riz, and as I have promised, I am here if you need me to continue to bring Tanglaw to our readers. And welcome aboard to the new Tanglaw staff. You will see, It will be one great ride! So farewell to all our pains and glory of 1998, let us learn and grow from it. May we all have a better and prosperous New Year and may our ardent wishes that we hold so close to our hearts, come true in 1999. The next millennium is upon us , let us conquer it with a burning determination to succeed! We will continue to flourish and let us bring PNA to greater heights. I believe that together, we can do it! Vicky Perez Herrera, RN |
