Sallie M. Poepsel, CRNA, MS

A  BSN graduate of the University of Santo Tomas in 1974,  Sallie has an impressive resume, not only in education and work experience but also in civic service.  She completed graduate school at St. Louis University in 1983, and anesthesia school at the University of Minnesota and Minneapolis VA School of Anesthesia in 1994.  Currently,  she is a staff anesthetist at  H. S. Truman Memorial Veteran Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.  In the past, she worked in the areas of education, research, administration, and clinical nursing.

Sallie relocated to the United States in 1976, and has been married for 22 years to Robert A. Poepsel, a self-employed CRNA.  Sallie is the sixth child of a family of nine children, but she and her husband have only one child, a daughter named Megan.  A dog named Angie, a Yorkie Terrier completes the family picture.

She is active in several civic/community programs such as the Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Council and Youth Ministry, president of the Neighborhood Association in Columbia, and has participated in medical missions to the Philippines.  She is assisting in a capital fund campaign to raise five million to build a new Catholic church in Columbia, Missouri.

In spite of her busy schedule,  Sallie still finds time to do a variety of leisure activities which include gardening, reading, traveling, gourmet cooking, sewing, and listening to music.  She has successfully balanced work, civic duties, and family by being positive and optimistic.  She is very goal-oriented, organized, and described herself as dynamic, fun-
loving, friendly, and a happy person.  According to her,  having a family, being named as a Chairperson of the State's Continuing Education Committee for the Missouri Association of Nurse Anesthetists, completing graduate and anesthesia schools,

and her civic affiliations are her best accomplishments.

She considers PNAGKC's goals, activities, and accomplishments as worthwhile and representative of what she values as a person and as a professional.

"We are glad to have you, Sallie!"
