Updates

Ana Lisa

She and her parents are now living in a government subsidized house north of the river. With just the food stamps and medicaid, the family is still needing our help. Though Anna Liza's blood cells are better, she is still not able to eat and this week had a colonoscopy to rule out other problems. Please bring non perishable food/household products when you attend the general meeting on 7/28
. Thanks for your generosity - Anita Cooper, Marilyn Carino, Sonia Tumanut, and Amy

Erica Sison

She is now back home in Dagupan City, Philippines happily reajusting to her previous life style (jeepneys and tricycles) with her parents and 3 brothers.  Erica at 5 did not know how to read or write when she arrived in Kansas City last year. Through her mother's perseverance she learned how to read and write while she was here. Because of her facial deformity, Erica was shunned from school and was subjected to cruel  taunting and teasing. This never dampened her feisty spirit, her confidence and her love to laugh and learn.  Today Erica is in first grade, finally embraced and accepted by her community.
She came for help but I think this little girl, taught us so much more!  To appreciate what we have, to smile through pain and  adversities,  and to never loose hope.  We changed her life, and so she did ours!
To everyone who have contributed to her care,  we all have done a wonderful job!
