PNAGKC  Nurses Provide Home Health Care
By   Jhardz  Tarrago

Erica Sison is a six year old girl from Dagupan City,Philippines who suffers from a very rare form of congenital facial deformity. Her condition was so complicated that if corrective surgeries were  to be made,  it was professionally recommended  that it has to be  done in the United States.
Dr. Lutchie Racela, the first elected and founding president of the Lions Club Kansas City Chapter, made the initiative to personally bring Erica and her mother, Merlita, to Kansas  City, last November.  Through the financial aid and sponsorship of the newly formed Kansas City  World Outreach Lions Club, in collaboration with the Medical Mission Foundation,First Hand Foundation,Lions Club District 26D,  Cerner Corporation, the Philippine and US officials , and other volunteers,  Erica  came to the United States  for  multiple corrective plastic surgeries .
Dr.John Herbert and his St. Luke's Hospital team performed the  initial surgery.   Erika  stayed with host families post operatively. The PNAGKC nurses join Medical Mission Foundation nurses in providing  home

Arvin Figueroa, Erica and Cora Zamora

health care by taking turns in assessing her condition daily, provide PIC line  and drain  care,  and administer round the clock  IV antibiotics .
Erika's journey  for a second chance has just began. But with the continued support of our community,  her journey might be rough, but not lonely.
